Pustaha Laklak is a literary tradition that developed in the Batak community. Physically, the pustaha consisted of lampak (cover) and laklak (bark as a medium of writing). Pustaha was used by a datu or a student who was learning to become a datu. Pustaha was usually made of wood or peeled alim tree bark (Aquilaria malaccensis). This tree bark reached 7 meters in length and had a width of 60 cm. Other than from bark, pustaha was also made of bamboo or other materials.

Sewaka Darma is one of the ten manuscripts of Ciburuy, which is one of the ancient Sunda kabuyutan in Bayongbong, Garut, West Java. Written by the Ancestor Ni Dawit in Kuta Wawatan, a woman who once meditated at the Ni Teja Puru Bancana Hermitage in Mount Kumbang, in Brebes, Central Java, this script was taken by Raden Aria Tjandranegara, the Regent of Brebes (1880-1885), on November 14, 1882 and then handed over to K.F. Holle who then stored it in Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsteen en Wetenschappen.
